The document specifies ergonomic guiding principles which apply to user requirements, design and procurement of workstation equipment for office taskes using VDT's. Users of visual desplay terminals (VDT) in office work typically adopt a range of postures (seated with leaning, upright or reclining torso, standing or a combination of both). Workpaces which accommodate such usage can encourage movement, promote comfort and reduce physical, mental and visual problems. The basic principles and requirements specified in this standard particularly apply to standards which describe the technical design of furniture and equipment of workplaces.
