Recommended Practices for Hand Hygiene in the Perioperative Setting
These recommended practices provide guidance for hand hygiene, hand washing, and surgical hand scrubs for surgical and other invasive procedures. Hand hygiene is a primary method of decreasing healthcare-associated infections. Hand hygiene, hand washing, and surgical hand scrubs are the most effective way to prevent and control infections and represent the least expensive means of achieving both.
