ANAB to Host November 19 Informational Session on Cannabis Certificate Accreditation Program

11/15/2021
ANAB to Assess and Accredit Certificate Programs Conforming to ASTM D8403, New Practice for Certificate Programs within the Cannabis and Hemp Industries

As part of its long-term effort to support safety, quality, and health for consumers and the global economy as the cannabis industry expands, the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), a wholly owned subsidiary of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), will hold an informational session on November 19 highlighting its new Cannabis Certificate Accreditation Program.

As part of the new program, ANAB will assess and accredit certificate programs as conforming to the requirements of ASTM D8403, New Practice for Certificate Programs within the Cannabis and Hemp Industries, developed by ASTM International’s Subcommittee D37, Cannabis. Cary Black, chair of the ASTM D37.06 Subcommittee, and CEO and principal consultant of CK Black Group, will speak at the information session and provide updates from ASTM WK73703, the group involved in developing the standard. Register for the November 19 informational session.

While ASTM D8403 does not replace ANSI/ASTM E2659-18, Standard Practice for Certificate Programs, it expands the Certificate Accreditation Program to include a special and separate accreditation process for those issuing certificates in the cannabis industry. ANAB’s training for certificate issuers, Understanding Requirements and Concepts of ANSI/ASTM E2659, is designed to introduce interested stakeholders to ANSI/ASTM E2659 and the requirements for developing a quality education/training course that has an assessment at the end to determine if the learning outcomes have been achieved. Learn more about ANAB’s training opportunities.
