What Travel Trends and Colder Temperatures Could Mean for COVID-19
In a recent Mayo Clinic Q&A podcast, Dr. Gregory Poland, head of Mayo Clinic's Vaccine Research Group, answers several listener questions and discusses being vigilant against COVID-19 as the U.S. heads into a second winter during the pandemic.
He explains what colder weather, increased travel, waning immunity, and the potential for new variants will mean for the future of COVID-19.
"I have consistently said what's very likely to happen as we get to the cooler weather and see the trends in travel is that we will have another surge," said Dr. Poland. "We're in this unusual situation where the pandemic is actually getting worse because humans don't want to believe that the pandemic is just as important now as it was a year ago."

IEEE’s Study “Impact of Tech in 2022 and Beyond” Highlights COVID-19 and Hybrid Work
A new IEEE study reveals the most important technologies and trends in innovation based on responses from 350 CIOs, CTOs, IT directors, and other technology leaders in the U.S., China, U.K., India, and Brazil.
“The Impact of Technology in 2022 and Beyond: an IEEE Global Study," found that 95% of respondents agree ––with 66% strongly agreeing–– that AI will drive the majority of innovation across nearly every industry sector in the next 1-5 years. What’s more, the survey also shines a light on some of the other leading technologies that leaders have implemented in business during 2021 due to the global pandemic. In addition to AI, technology leaders surveyed said that they accelerated the adoption of cloud computing; machine learning; 5G; and augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR).
However, such tech changes mean some obstacles. Challenges technology leaders foresee for 2022 range from maintaining strong cybersecurity for a hybrid workforce and recruiting technologists to planning for the future and the technologies their company will need post-pandemic.

BPI Webinar Examines Healthy Home Movement Post-Pandemic
The Building Performance Institute (BPI) will host a webinar in December on the impact that COVID-19 has had on how homeowners view indoor air quality, ventilation, and healthy home systems.
The webinar will delve into the changes to the healthy homes movement that may have a lasting impact after the pandemic subsides, including the new landscape of the healthy homes industry going forward and related trends that have been observed. Content will include updated keyword and marketing data, potential changes in the consumer mindset, and a retrospective look at initial predictions around the pandemic and its impact on healthy home trends and behaviors.
