American Forensics Achieves ANAB ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Accreditation

MESQUITE, Texas, April 12, 2019

MESQUITE, Texas, April 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- American Forensics has achieved accreditation by the ANAB/ANSI National Accreditation Board in the Field of Forensic Science Inspection in the discipline of Medical Legal Death Investigation. Accreditation distinguishes American Forensics from other death investigation facilities by providing the highest quality of death investigation and autopsy services to its clients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.

Though ANAB has a long history of accrediting crime laboratories, toxicology laboratories and other forensic service providers, American Forensics is the FIRST facility in the United States to become accredited in the discipline of Death Investigation.  Status as an accredited organization means American Forensics has met internationally recognized standards for forensic inspection agencies set by ISO/IEC17020:2012. Not all death investigation facilities seek accreditation; and not all that undergo the rigorous on-site survey process are granted accreditation.

"We believe our clients deserve the best," stated Amy C. Gruszecki, DO, MSFS, FCAP Chief Forensic Pathologist and Medical Director of American Forensics. "When you see our certificate of accreditation, you will know that ANAB, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has closely examined our facility and procedures. It means we as an organization care enough about our clients to strive for the highest level of death investigation possible."

Death Investigation organizations seeking accreditation by ANAB undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by ANAB expert surveyors who are actively involved in forensic inspection processes.

This new ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Accreditation furthers our dedication to the highest quality standards that American Forensics strives for its clients. In 2013, American Forensics was the first, independent Death Investigation Facility to Achieve Full accreditation by the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) for Autopsy Service Facilities. American Forensics is also proud to announce that it continues to maintain Full Accreditation after an on-site inspection by NAME in January 2019.

"Going through this process challenged us to find better ways to serve our clients, and it is a constant reminder that our responsibility is to strive to continuously improve the quality of death investigation we provide," said David Leavitt, CEO American Forensics.

American Forensics was founded in 2009, as an independent medical-legal death investigation facility providing forensics autopsy services and expert witness consultations for Texas Counties, Families, Attorneys and Hospitals. American Forensics is in Mesquite, (Dallas County) Texas. www.AmericanForensics.com
