Connect for Success: USNC Opens Mentoring Program Applications

7/16/2021

The U.S. National Committee (USNC) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) encourages interested applicants to apply to its USNC Professional Mentoring Program. Individuals who are interested in joining the program, either as a mentor or protégé, are invited to submit a completed application form by Friday, August 13, 2021.

Additional details can be found on the USNC webpage.

Why Join the USNC Professional Mentoring Program?

The USNC mentoring program provides an opportunity for emerging standards and conformity assessment professionals to enter into a one-on-one relationship with a more experienced member of the standards community to support retention, development, and overall success.

Participation in the mentoring program helps foster the growth of emerging standards and conformity assessment professionals, and enable them to be successful in their endeavors, whether their goals are to take on leadership roles in U.S. or international programs, or to contribute as experts or delegates.

Furthermore, the mentoring program provides a mechanism to retain new standards and conformity assessment professionals and grow the pipeline of future leaders in the USNC.

The program will begin in September and end by summer 2022. Program participants are asked to hold, at minimum, monthly calls with their mentor or protégé throughout the year; time spent shall not exceed five hours per month. There will be two formal check-ins with program administrators, one around the mid-point and one as the pilot wraps-up. Other check-in opportunities will also be available throughout the year.

Interested individuals are invited to submit a completed application to USNC program administrator, Megan Pahl, at [email protected]. For more information, visit the USNC webpage.
