NENA PSA Debuts in Movie Theaters Nationwide
NENA: The 9-1-1 Association, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced a new public service announcement (PSA) campaign that is being aired in movie theaters across the country.

The 30-second PSA, featuring the star of Fox's hit show 9-1-1 Angela Bassett, provides tips on what to do when calling 9-1-1. It is running in select movie theaters from April 5-18 as part of NENA's National 9-1-1 Education Month activities for 2019. It will reach an anticipated two million viewers.

"National 9-1-1 Education Month is all about informing the public about what to do when calling 9-1-1," said NENA CEO Brian Fontes. "NENA is so grateful to Ms. Bassett for filming this PSA, as well as the team at Screenvision Media for donating screen time to help get this important message out to a huge national audience."

PLASTICS Report Highlights Transportation Trends for Plastics Industry
The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has released a report on the growing demand for and use of plastics in modes of transportation, from automobiles and trucks to boats, trains, and planes.

"The Plastics Market Watch Report - Watching: Transportation" discusses recent trends in transportation, including propulsion/electric vehicles, self-driving vehicles, connected vehicles, and shared transportation. According to the report, experts say plastics are one of the biggest breakthroughs in innovation since the Ford Model T, with dynamic capabilities to transform cities and disrupt the movement of goods.

"Due to current trends, we expect for plastics to become a solidified material in transportation vehicles and other technologies," said Perc Pineda, chief economist at PLASTICS. "Engineers and designers use plastic for vehicle materials because of its weatherability and moisture repellence, safety advances, improved comfort, and other properties - many of which are in the research and development stages. Considering that demand for transportation is not going away any time soon, plastics will remain a viable material in the transportation space."
