NIST, DGN, and SCC to Hold Virtual Workshop on New Mexican Infrastructure Law
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), General Directorate of Standards (DGN) of Mexico, and the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) have announced that they will hold a virtual workshop on Mexico’s new National Quality Infrastructure Law.
Presented by the director general of DGN, the workshop will give an overview of the law and provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions. It is a follow-up event to a previous workshop also organized by NIST, DGN, and the SCC, held in 2018.
The virtual workshop will take place on September 22 from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. ET. It is open to all interested parties, but registration is required. Interpretation will be provided. U.S. and Brazilian Institutions Announce Virtual U.S.-Brazil Conformity Assessment Workshop
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA), NIST, and the Brazilian Ministry of Economy and National Institute of Metrology, Standardization, and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) will hold a virtual workshop focused on the U.S. and Brazilian conformity assessment systems.
The U.S.-Brazil Conformity Assessment Workshop will feature public and private sector speakers providing information to improve mutual understanding of U.S. and Brazilian standards, conformity assessment, and regulatory systems. Speakers will also discuss experiences concerning the acceptance of conformity assessment results in each other’s markets. The results of the workshop will be taken into account by both the Standards and Conformity Assessment Trade Related Issues work stream and Standards and Metrology working group when developing the Action Plan 2020-2021 under the U.S.-Brazil Commercial Dialogue.
The virtual workshop is scheduled for September 22-23 from 8 a.m.-11/11:15 a.m. ET. To participate or ask questions, contact Laura Krishnan of ITA ([email protected]).
X12 Launches New Website
X12, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has launched a redesigned website featuring an improved site structure for easier navigation, richer content, and a modernized appearance.
The site, https://x12.org, offers more access to online resources that support business-to-business data exchange among businesses, non-profit associations, and government organizations. A new layout and simplified navigation allow users to search for and find information quickly, and content has been enhanced to highlight resources, membership news, event listings, and more.
“Our goal is to make the desktop, tablet, and smartphone user experience easier so that visitors can stay informed by finding the information and resources that they need quickly using their preferred personal device to do their jobs. The flat web design incorporates a clean and refined style that greatly improves readability, speed, and functionality,” said Cathy Sheppard, X12 executive director. “With an infrastructure built for fast and secure accessibility, we are confident users will be pleased to find that the pertinent information they're looking for is just a click away.”

WMIA and WWMA Post Webinar with Tips for Better Virtual Meetings
The Woodworking Machinery Industry Association (WMIA) and the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America (WMMA), both ANSI members, recently hosted a webinar together through their Joint Technology Committee (JTC).
“Raising Your Livestream Goals” provides tips on how to best prepare for and execute live virtual meetings, including information on different platforms, devices and accessories, lighting and sound quality for presenters, and links to additional resources.
The webinar is freely available on demand on WMIA’s website. A PDF handout with printed materials is also available.
