People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced Heidi Brock as its new president and CEO. She succeeds Donna Harman, who plans to retire after 12 years.

Ms. Brock comes to AF&PA from the Aluminum Association, where she has been president and CEO for almost eight years. At AF&PA, Ms. Brock led the organization to strengthening their advocacy mission and role as the key policy voice for the aluminum industry, and in launching the Aluminum PAC to increase member engagement with government stakeholders. Prior to that, Ms. Brock was vice president of federal and international affairs for Weyerhaeuser, where she was an active member on AF&PA committees. She sits on the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and ASAE Foundation Boards of Directors, and in 2018 was awarded the CMA Leadership Award for her work chairing the National Association of Manufacturers' (NAM) Council of Manufacturing Associations.

"On behalf of the AF&PA board, I am very pleased to welcome Heidi back to the paper and wood products industry and to the helm of AF&PA," said Greif CEO and AF&PA Board chair Peter Watson. "Her extensive industry and public policy advocacy experience make her the ideal person to lead our industry into the future. Heidi has demonstrated association leadership and achieved significant public policy outcomes for the manufacturing sector during her career. I know she will build on the legacy of successful fact-based advocacy of Donna and the entire AF&PA team."

The Aluminum Association, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, announced that they have begun their search for Ms. Brock's successor.

AF&PA announced another addition to their senior staff earlier this year. Lindsay Murphy joined the association as executive director, strategic communications. In this role, Ms. Murphy leads the development and execution of AF&PA's communications strategy in support of their policy objectives.

Prior to joining AF&PA, Ms. Murphy was a vice president at Racepoint Global, focusing on earned media and digital advocacy for her clients. She also worked on Capitol Hill in various positions directing public affairs strategy and outreach, and has worked with strategic communications for more than 15 years.

"Lindsay has extensive communications experience from agencies and trade associations across multiple industries, and we're excited to have her on board," said Ms. Harman. "Her background creating and executing complex strategic communications plans and public policy issue campaigns makes her a great addition to the AF&PA team."
