10/01/2021

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The American Gas Association (AGA), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Terri Oliva as chief financial officer.

Ms. Oliva comes to AGA from the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), where she most recently served as vice president and chief human resources officer. She oversaw EEI’s internal human resources management function and facility operations, and led external engagement with member company human resources officers, industry DEI initiatives, and the supplier diversity program. Prior to her work with EEI, she also held roles at KPMG, Johnson & Johnson, Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae. Ms. Oliva is a licensed CPA, and a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Virginia and Greater Washington Society of CPAs, the Women’s Council on Energy and Environment, and the American Society of Association Executives.

“Terri brings deep financial skills along with a strong background in the energy industry and with regulated utilities—a stellar combination that will undoubtedly serve our members and our organization well,” said Karen Harbert, AGA president and CEO. “We are thrilled to have Terri joining our team.”

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI), an ANSI member, has announced that Courtney Peterson is its new chief human resources officer. In this role, she will lead EEI’s human resources department and facility operations, lead engagement with member company human resources officers, support DEI initiatives, and oversee EEI’s business diversity program.

Previously, Ms. Peterson led the human resources function at the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC for over a decade. She has also held HR leadership roles for the Fannie Mae Foundation and the American Diabetes Association. Ms. Peterson holds senior-level certifications from the Society for Human Resources Management and the Human Resources Certification Institute, and serves as a leadership coach and a certified workplace mediator.

“On behalf of the entire EEI team and our member electric companies, I am excited to welcome Courtney to EEI,” said EEI president Tom Kuhn. “Courtney is a demonstrated and talented HR leader, who will bring a wealth of valuable experience to our team and to our member companies as we continue our journey to build a diverse and inclusive workforce. I also extend my heartfelt congratulations to Terri on her new position at AGA, and I am pleased that Terri will remain in our energy industry family.”
