The Society of Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Cassandravictoria “Vic” Innocent as its new scientific director. In this role, she will provide strategic leadership for scientific content and delivery through SLAS’s education conferences, webinars, distance learning, and peer-reviewed journals. Ms. Innocent will also implement plans to address educational and scientific needs across SLAS’s demographics.
Prior to joining SLAS, Ms. Innocent was scientific innovation lead at Paritii, a management consulting firm that promotes programmatic equity in biotechnology, financial technology, and educational technology products. Previously, she was with Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where she served as assistant director for the Cellular Imaging Core (IDDRC). Ms. Innocent was a founding member of the Corporate Relations Committee of BioImaging North America – International, and a member of the Development Committee of the University Scientific Equipment Discovery Tool (USEDit). She holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, and biophysics.
“We are really excited to have Vic’s creativity, enthusiasm, and scientific knowledge on our team, especially as we embark on an ambitious new five-year strategic plan,” says SLAS CEO Vicki Loise. “Vic’s experience with academic-industry collaborations will be extremely valuable and will inform our goals in this area globally.”
The Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG), an ANSI member, has announced that Julia Matevosyan is its new chief engineer. In this role, she will support ESIG working groups, including managing task forces, and will contribute to broadening the organization’s outreach to utilities, system operators, and the regulatory and public community.
Ms. Matevosyan has over 20 years of experience in the power industry, most recently as lead planning engineer of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). There, she worked on adequacy of system inertial response, system flexibility, frequency control, and performance issues related to high penetration levels of inverter-based generation and ancillary services market design. She has participated in ESIG activities for many years, currently leading the organization’s High Share Inverter-Based General Task Force and serving as co-chair of its Offerings Committee. Ms. Matevosyan is also an active participant in the research agenda with the founding system operators of the Global Power System Transformation (GPST) consortium.
