People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.
The Aluminum Association, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Charles Johnson as its president and CEO.
Most recently, Mr. Johnson was president and CEO of the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA). There, Mr. Johnson helped to modernized ISEA’s operations and accounting program, and led the passage of liability legislation for safety equipment manufacturers. Previously, Mr. Johnson served for 19 years at the Aluminum Association, ultimately as vice president of policy. In that role, he was a key strategic advisor to the industry on environmental regulation, occupational health and safety, community and consumer protection, international regulation, sustainability, and other issues.
“Chuck is a natural born leader and also has a tremendous depth and breadth of experience on aluminum industry issues,” said Buddy Stemple, CEO of Constellium Rolled Products and Aluminum Association chair. “He is uniquely qualified to step into this new role and I couldn’t be more excited to bring him on board.”
SoundExchange, an ANSI member, has announced that Vanessa French is its new vice president of communications and content strategy. In this role, she will oversee the organization’s public relations, social media and digital communications, corporate communications, executive communications, content strategy, and paid media.
Ms. French has nearly 20 years of experience in the field, having established and managed several successful public relations practices for Brinks Home and Beekeeper Group. She co-founded and managed Pivot Point Communications, a creative communications agency, before it was acquired by Beekeeper Group in 2017. Ms. French is a frequent speaker and lecturer, and has presented at the American University Social Learning Summit, DC Web Women, General Assembly, George Washington Women in Business Conference, Public Relations Society of America, What’s Next DC, and Women in Government Relations.
