Updated Agenda and Speakers Announced for ANSI Dietary Supplements Standardization Coordination Meeting

ANSI today issued an updated draft agenda for its May 13 meeting on dietary supplements standardization coordination to be held in Washington, DC. Speakers include:

  • Randy Slikkers, CEO, Global Retailer and Manufacturer Alliance, will provide an update on the GRMA certification scheme.

  • The Supplement Safety & Compliance Initiative has been invited to provide an update on its benchmarking efforts.

  • Gordon Gillerman, Director, Standards Coordination Office, National Institute of Standards and Technology, will speak on approaches to optimize assessment resources and results: what works and what are the issues.

  • Carolyn L. Hann, Chief of Staff for Advertising Practices, Bureau of Consumer Protection, Division of Advertising Practices, Federal Trade Commission, will provide an FTC perspective on hot topics and law enforcement trends in the dietary supplements industry as part of a stakeholder panel on issues related to building trust and confidence in dietary supplements.

  • Sandra B. Eskin, Director, Safe Food Project, Pew Charitable Trusts, will be part of that panel and will talk about assuring accountability and transparency in benchmarking and certification schemes.

  • Rishi Banerjee, Senior Manager, Global Food Safety Initiative, will join that panel and will discuss the GFSI e-commerce working group.

There is no fee to participate in the meeting but advance registration is required. In addition, sponsorship opportunities are available for those organizations wishing to be recognized for their commitment to standardization's role in helping to assure consumer confidence in the market for dietary supplements.
