NFPA 1001 identifies the minimum job performance requirements for career and volunteer fire fighters whose duties are primarily structural in nature. In a major change, the 2008 edition moves from Fire Fighter II to Fire Fighter I the minimum requirement for Competencies for First Responder at the Operational Level for Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents. This edition also includes the addition of a Skills Maintenance requirement.
