ASABE: American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers

ASABE, the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, is a nonprofit organization that develops and publishes standards for engineering applicable to agriculture, food and other biological systems. Headquartered in St. Joseph, United States, ASABE has over 9,000 members, representing over 100 countries. Heavily involved in publishing, ASABE publishes journals and textbooks in addition to ASABE standards. ASABE also serves as the administrator for the U.S. TAGs (United States Technical Advisory Group) to ISO/TCs 23, 234 and 238 (International Organization for Standardization/Technical Committee) and to many of the subcommittees for ISO/TC 23. Standards from ASABE are available both individually, directly through the ANSI webstore, and as part of a Standards Subscription. If you or your organization are interested in easy, managed, online access to standards that can be shared, a Standards Subscription may be what you need - please contact us at: StandardsSubscriptions@ansi.org or 1-212-642-4980 or Request Proposal Price.

ANSI/ASAE EP486.3 SEP2017

Shallow Post and Pier Foundation Design

This engineering practice contains safety factors and other provisions for allowable stress design (ASD) which is also known as working stress design, and for load and resistance factor design (LRFD) which is also known as strength design. It also contains properties and procedures for modeling soil deformation for use in structural building frame analyses.

ANSI/ASAE S433.1 JAN2019

Loads Exerted by Free-Flowing Grain on Bins

This Standard presents methods of predicting the grain pressures within centrally loaded and unloaded bins used to store free-flowing, agricultural whole grain.

ANSI/ASABE S648-1

Agricultural Field Equipment Braking - Part 1: General Requirements

This part of ANSI/ASABE S648 provides normative references, defines terms and definitions and establishes general test procedures for the performance of braking systems used on agricultural field equipment (as defined in ANSI/ASAE S390).

ANSI/ASABE S648-2

Agricultural Field Equipment Braking - Part 2: Requirements for Agricultural Tractors

This part of ANSI/ASABE S648 establishes test procedures and performance requirements for braking of agricultural tractors. The requirements and minimum performance criteria are directed to operation and parking of agricultural equipment having a maximum design ground speed greater than 6 km/h (3.7 mile/h) and not exceeding 50 km/h (31 mile/h).

ANSI/ASABE S648-3

Agricultural Field Equipment Braking - Part 3: Requirements for Self-Propelled and Special Self-Propelled Machines

This part of ANSI/ASABE S648 establishes test procedures and performance requirements for braking of selfpropelled machines (SPM) and special self-propelled machines (SSP). The requirements and minimum performance criteria are directed to operation and parking of agricultural equipment having a maximum design ground speed greater than 6 km/h (3.7 mile/h).

ANSI/ASAE S276.8 APR2016 (R2020)

Slow Moving Vehicle Identification Emblem (SMV Emblem).

Establishes specifications that define a unique identification emblem, the Slow Moving Vehicle Emblem (SMV Emblem), to be used only for slow moving machines (vehicles), when operated or traveling on public roads.

ANSI/ASAE S279.18 OCT2019

Lighting and Marking of Agricultural Equipment on Highways

This Standard provides specifications for lighting and marking of agricultural equipment whenever such equipment is operating or is traveling on a highway.

ANSI/ASABE AD11684:1995 APR2011 (R2016ED) Cor.1

Tractors, machinery for agriculture and forestry, powered lawn and garden equipment û Safety signs and hazard pictorials û General principles

This International Standard establishes general principles for the design and application of safety signs and hazard pictorials permanently affixed to tractors, machinery for agriculture and forestry, and powered lawn and garden equipment as defined in ISO 3339-O and ISO 5395. This International Standard outlines safety sign objectives, describes the basic safety sign formats and colours, and provides guidance on developing the various panels that together constitute a safety sign.

ANSI/ASAE EP484.3 DEC2017

Diaphragm Design of Metal-Clad, Wood-Frame Rectangular Buildings

This Engineering Practice is a consensus document for the analysis and design of metal-clad woodframe buildings using roof and ceiling diaphragms, alone or in combination. The roof (and ceiling) diaphragms, endwalls, intermediate shearwalls, and building frames are the main structural elements of a structural system used to efficiently resist the design lateral (wind, seismic) loads.

ANSI/ASAE S318.18 JUN2017

Safety for Agricultural Field Equipment

This Standard is a guide to provide a reasonable degree of personal safety for operators and other persons during the normal operation and servicing of agricultural field equipment.
