Building lime - Part 1: Definitions, specifications and conformity criteria; German version EN 459-1:2010 (Foreign Standard)
This European Standard applies to building lime used for - preparation of binder for mortar (for example for masonry, rendering and plastering), - production of other construction products (for example calcium silicate bricks, autoclaved aerated concrete, conrete, etc.), - civil engineering applications (for example soil treatment, hot mix asphalt, etc.). It gives definitions for the different types of building lime and its classification. It also gives requirements for their chemical and physical properties which depend on the type of building lime and specifies the conformity criteria.*This standard applies to - building lime for the preparation of mortar (for example, masonry and plastering for exterior and interior plastering) - the production of other construction products (for example, calcium silicate bricks, aerated concrete, concrete) - the use in civil engineering applications (for example, soil treatments, hot mix asphalt). The standard contains definitions for the different types of building lime and their classification. It also specifies requirements for the chemical and physical properties, depending on the particular type of building lime, as well as the conformity criteria for building lime. The European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 51 "Cement and Building Lime" (secretariat: Belgium). Regarding the German collaboration the responsible Working Committee is NA 005-06-24 AA "Baukalk" ("Building lime") of NABau at DIN.
