Acoustics - Determination of occupational noise exposure - Methodology (ISO 9612:2025)
This document specifies a method for assessing the noise exposure of workers at work and calculating the noise exposure level. This document covers the measurement of A-weighted levels but is also applicable to C-weighted levels. Three different measurement strategies are specified. The method is applicable to detailed noise exposure studies or epidemiological studies with regard to hearing damage or other adverse effects. Carrying out the measurement requires observation and analysis of the noise exposure conditions so that the quality of the measurements can be verified. This document describes methods for estimating the uncertainty of the results. This document is not intended for the investigation of speech masking or the investigation of infrasound, ultrasound, and extra-aural noise effects. It is not applicable to measuring noise exposure to the ear protected by hearing protectors. The results of measurements carried out in accordance with this document can provide useful information for setting priorities for noise reduction measures.
