He succeeds John Nosse, who will serve as president emeritus of the organization before retiring in 2010.
In the past year, Mr. Johnson has worked with ICC-ES and its customers to improve the organization’s business model. Before joining ICC-ES, he had spent most of his career with the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO). Mr. Johnson has a BA in economics, a BS in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration.
Performing technical evaluations of building products, components, methods and materials, ICC-ES is a subsidiary of the International Code Council (ICC), which is a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
In this role, Mr. Kovalevsky will expand IPC services and standards in Russia by facilitating their translation into Russian; supporting standards development activities in the region; and serving as liaison to member companies. He will also organize seminars and events and coordinate existing training and certification activities.
Before joining IPC, Mr. Kovalevsky has held engineering and management positions for MNPP Saturn Ltd., and Tyco Electronics AMP GmbH. He earned his degree as a development engineer for electronic equipment design and manufacturing from Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
