DIN EN 12001:2010

Conveying, spraying and placing machines for concrete and mortar - Safety requirements; German version EN 12001:2003+A1:2009 (Foreign Standard)

This standard specifies the safety requirements for conveying machines, spraying machines, placing machines for concrete and mortar or their components. The machinery can be stationary or mobile. This standard does not cover machines that are mobile during conveying, spraying and placing and cabins for any machines covered by this standard. This standard does not concern the undercarriage of the truck and the engine (s) of the machines that are not driven by the main engine during conveying, spraying and placing. This standard deals with noise but in an incomplete manner so that it cannot be considered that noise is dealt with under the machinery directive. CEN/TC 151 has taken the resolution to revise the noise test code in order to make it complete.*This European Standard definesrelevant requirements of Annex I of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, for conveying, spraying and placing machines for concrete and mortar or their components which were placed on the market in the EEA for the first time, in order to facilitate the verification of the conformity with these requirements. The machinery can be stationary or mobile. This standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to conveying, spraying and placing machines when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see clause 4). This standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards. Once it is cited in the Official Journal of the European Communities, it is deemed a harmonized standard, and thus a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive covered by this standard (so called presumption of conformity). This standard applies to machines according to the description in 3.3. This standard does not cover: - machines that are mobile during conveying, spraying and placing; - cabins for any machines covered by this standard. This standard does not concern the undercarriage of the truck and the engine(s) of the machines that are not driven by the main engine during conveying, spraying and placing. One other possibility is the combination with a truck mixer (see 3.3). This standard does not establish the additional requirements for operation subject to special conditions (for instance potentially explosive atmosphere, supply by electrical networks where voltage, frequency and tolerance differ from those of the public supply, if relevant to, for instance electronic components, earthquake, lightning, using on public roads, hazards occurring during construction, transportation, commissioning, decommissioning, cableless remote controls other than radio controls, compressors and pressure vessels). With respect to DIN EN 12001:2004-05, the following changes have been made within the framework of the adaptation to the new Machinery Directive: - the normative references (clause 2) and the terms and definitions (clause 3) have been updated; - the significant hazards in clause 4 have been amended and updated; - the requirements for the emergency stop devices, noise and guards in clause 5 have been amended and updated; - the individual verification for each construction group in clause 6.2 has been amended; - the information for use in clause 7 have been amended and updated; - Annex B has been updated; - a normative Annex C has been added; - an informative Annex ZB on the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has been added. This standard contains the German version of EN 12001:2003+A1:2009, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety" (secretariat: DIN, Germany) of the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Working Committee NA 060-13-08 "Betonpumpen" ("Concrete pumps") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Manufacturers' representatives and users of conveying, spraying and placing machines for concrete and mortar, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations have been involved in the preparation of the standard.
