Ambient air quality - Standard gravimetric measurement method for the determination of the PM2,5 mass fraction of suspended particulate matter (FOREIGN STANDARD)

This European standard describes a manual reference method for the gravimetric determination of the mass concentration of particulate matter in ambient air with aerodynamic diameters up to 2,5 æm (PM2,5 fraction). The standard specifies the performance requirements for sampling equipment with low or high volume flow regimes acceptable for the purpose of the EU Council Directive 99/xx30/EC relating to limit values for sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and oxides of nitrogen, particulate matter and lead in ambient air. The inlet configuration of the sampling equipment will be given by design, and the operating parameters and procedures (flow/handling/weighing) by performance. Additionally the European standard describes a field test procedure to demonstrate reference equivalence of measurement methods for the determination of the mass concentration of particulate matter in ambient air with aerodynamic diameters up to 2,5 æm (PM2,5 fraction). In this part of the standard a protocol to perform field test in characteristic EU agglomeration situations, in an adequate concentration range and at adequate proportions of volatile particulate matter, furthermore a statistical procedure for testing reference equivalency of common PM2,5 measuring instruments for the purpose of the EU Council Directive 99/30/EC is specified.
