DIN EN ISO 22391-1:2010

Plastics piping systems for hot and cold water installations - Polyethylene of raised temperature resistance (PE-RT) - Part 1: General (ISO 22391-1:2009); German version EN ISO 22391-1:2009

This part of DIN EN ISO 22391 specifies the general aspects of piping systems made of polyethylene of raised temperature resistance (PE-RT), Type I and polyethylene of raised temperature resistance (PE-RT), Type II, intended to be used for hot and cold water installations within buildings for the conveyance of water - whether or not the water is intended for human consumption (domestic systems) or heating systems - under specified design pressures and temperatures according to the class of application. It covers a range of service conditions (classes of application), design pressures and pipe dimension classes, and also specifies test parameters and defines terms, symbols and abbreviated terms. When used in conjunction with the other parts of DIN EN ISO 22391, it is respectively applicable to PE-RT pipes, fittings, their joints, and to joints having components of PE-RT as well as of other plastics and non-plastics materials, used for hot and cold water installations.*The standards specify the requirements and test methods for pipeline components made of PE-RT, Type I and Type II, their joints and to joints with pipeline components of other plastics or other non-plastic materials intended to be used in piping systems which are used for hot and cold water installations within buildings, whether or not the water is intended for human consumption (domestic systems) or for heating systems. Part 1 contains general requirements, e.g. terminology, classes of application, appropriate service conditions and requirements for materials. Part 2 and part 3 include furthermore special specifications for pipes and fittings regarding general, geometrical, mechanical and physical properties and for marking, respectively. Part 5 provides a basis for the assessment of the fitness for purpose of the system consisting of the single components pipe, fitting and joint. The International standards have been prepared by ISO/TC 138/SC 2/WG 1 "Plastic piping systems for hot and cold water applications" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom) with the active German collaboration of Joint Subcommittee NA 119-04-06-05 GUA "Kunststoffrohre in der Trinkwasserversorgung - Warm- und Kaltwasserleitungen" ("Plastic pipes in the drinking water supply - Hot water and cold water pipes") of NAW.
