45.1 Fundamental requirements

45.1.1 When voltage recovery right after voltage drop or voltage loss will cause danger to personnel and property, appropriate preventive measures should be taken. Similarly, when voltage drop can cause damage of certain part of electric installations and powered devices, preventive measures should also be taken.

If the damage of electrical installations and powered devices is considered under the acceptable level and will not endanger the safety of personnel, electrical appliances for protection against undervoltage is not requirement to install.

45.1.2 If the operation mode of the electrical appliances being protected permits temporary power off or temporary voltage loss without causing danger, delayed actions of electrical appliances' for protection against undervoltage are permitted.

45.1.3 If contactors are being used, the delay of disconnection and reconnection of contactors should not obstruct the instant break of contactors for control or protection of electrical appliances.

45.1.4 The characters of protection against undervoltage installations should be coordinated with requirements for starting and using equipment in relevant national standards and IEC standards.

45.1.5 When the reclosing for protecting electrical appliances may cause danger, this kind of reclosing should not be automatic.
