The impetus for the IDSP workshop was a concern that there are weaknesses in the processes for issuing source credentials used to prove identity. Since agencies typically rely on but do not verify source credentials, there is a loophole where identity theft and fraud can occur.
Administered by ANSI, the Identity Theft Prevention and Identity Management Standards Panel (IDSP) is a cross-sector initiative where the private and public sectors come together to dialogue on the need for voluntary standards and guidelines to fight identity theft and fraud.
