USTDA, ANSI & CII Announce Workshop for U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program (SCCP), Phase II

11/15/2018
Workshop on January 31-February 1 on Clean Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) and Solar Rooftop Installations in India

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced the U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program's Workshop on Clean Energy in Bangalore, India on January 31-February 1, sponsored by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and coordinated by ANSI in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Opportunities to present at the workshop are still available.

Access more information and register for the U.S.-India SCCP event via the webpage: ANSI's Workshop on Clean Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) and Solar Rooftop Installations in India.

Presenters will include U.S. and Indian experts from both the private and public sectors, and will focus on developing a standards and conformity assessment framework for photovoltaic (PV) power plants and rooftop installations. The development of this system will help India sustainably meet its renewable energy targets, specifically in the area of solar power, while creating a level playing field for high quality solutions and services from U.S. industry.

The workshop will address the commitment India made as part of the Paris Climate Agreement to produce 40 percent of its total energy needs through renewable sources by 2030. Last year, renewable energy accounted for 18.37 percent of the total installed power capacity. In order to meet and sustain this goal, India will need to create and implement a robust system for safety, quality and durability standards and specifications to speed adoption and efficiency of PV installations, including rooftop installation. U.S. industry and other experts will describe their experience with standards and conformity assessment for these technologies.

Please contact ANSI ([email protected]) for more information about presenter opportunities.

About the U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program

In October 2017, the USTDA launched the second phase of its U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program (SCCP), which will include six workshops in India for U.S. and Indian industry and government representatives to discuss standards and conformity assessment practices in three core sectors of U.S.-India trade: clean energy, smart and sustainable cities, and water and sanitation.

Together as the USTDA's partners in the SCCP, CII and ANSI will carry out the second phase, building off the progress made in Phase I.

The second phase builds on ANSI's record of success with improving access for U.S. companies to the Indian market by boosting cooperation on standards and conformance issues.
