Standards for Cognitive Disabilities

Mobility accessibility standards are published by the Department of Defense, ISO, and International Code Council, which are related to the construction of buildings to allow those with mobility devices to enter and exit, including guidelines that are federally mandated. ISO 21542 covers making buildings accessible to a variety of mobility devices such as wheelchairs and scooters and has specifications for building components such as elevators and guardrails. Many of the information covered is related to adults with disabilities, but also contains guidelines meant to help children access buildings.
