Epoxy Primer

Aerospace adhesive standards are applicable to the use of adhesive and sealant materials in aerospace vehicles. These standards address the preparation of sealant material specifications and aerospace recommended practices for sealing processes and related activities. For example: the sealing of integral fuel tanks. SAE International (SAE) has several technical committees (.doc download) that contribute to the development of aerospace adhesive standards. These standards are related to epoxy performance in an aerospace application.

SAE AMS 3107/1A-1991 (SAE AMS3107/1A-1991)

Primer, Adhesive, Corrosion-Inhibiting, High Durability Epoxy, -55 to +95\mDC (-67 to +203\mDF) ( Reaffirmed: Apr 1995 Jan 2001 )

This specification covers a corrosion-inhibiting, modified epoxy resin primer in the form of a ready-to-use, sprayable liquid. Primarily for use as a primer on metal surfaces in preparation for high-durability, structural, adhesive bonding of sandwich panels and for metal-to-metal attachments or as a primer in preparation for final paint-type finishing. The primers are useful over the temperature range specified in the applicable detail specification.

SAE AMS 3107/2A-1991 (SAE AMS3107/2A-1991)

Primer, Adhesive, Corrosion-Inhibiting, High Durability Epoxy, -55 to +120\mDC (-67 to +248\mDF) ( Reaffirmed: May 1995 Jan 2001 )

SAE AMS 3107A-1991 (SAE AMS3107A-1991)

Primer, Adhesive, Corrosion-Inhibiting, For High Durability Structural Adhesive Bonding ( Reaffirmed: Apr 1995 Jan 2001 )

This specification and its supplementary detail specifications cover corrosion-inhibiting, modified epoxy primers in the form of ready-to-use sprayable liquids. Primarily for use as a primer on metal surfaces in preparation for high-durability, structural, adhesive bonding of sandwich panels and for metal-to-metal attachments or as a primer in preparation for final paint-type finishing. The primers are useful over the temperature range specified in the applicable detail specification.

SAE AMS 3109-1991 (SAE AMS3109-1991)

Primer, Adhesive, Electrodeposited -55 to +82\mDC (-67 to +180\mDF) ( Reaffirmed: May 1995 May 2005 )

This specification covers a corrosion-inhibiting, water soluble, modified epoxy primer in liquid form. Primarily for use as a primer with structural adhesive bonding of metal-to-metal attachments and honeycomb panels.
