Technical Documentation

Other Vehicle Electronics Standards cover rotating electrical machines (motors) for rail and road vehicles, starter motors, technical documentation of electrical and electronic systems, lamps, switching devices, and other vehicle electronics standards. This collection of topics serves to complement the previous categories, bringing to light smaller areas of standardization that do not normally receive as large of a focus. These standards are related to documenting vehicle electric systems.

ISO 11748-1:2001

Road vehicles -- Technical documentation of electrical and electronic systems -- Part 1: Content of exchanged documents

This part of ISO 11748 gives guidelines for the content and structure of technical documentation for on-board electronic control systems used in road vehicles. It provides a checklist of technical data elements to be considered when creating technical documentation. The actual set of technical data elements to be exchanged between project partners is settled by the documentation agreement described in ISO 11748-2. Any decision on which information is relevant, mandatory or optional will be specific to a given project, and will thus be documented in that agreement.

ISO 11748-3:2002

Road vehicles - Technical documentation of electrical and electronic systems - Part 3: Application example

Scope This part of ISO 11748 provides an application example of the guidelines and specifications for technical documentation given in ISO 11748-1 and ISO 11748-2. The example is based on the standard generalized markup language (SGML), which is specified in ISO 8879.
