Chucks

Fastener assembly tool standards cover the tools, and their variable parts, that handle the fasteners during their installation. Given the variability within screwdrivers, starting from whether they are machine or hand operated, and continuing down all the way to the bits that actually make contact with the fastener, standardization promotes interchangeability between tools and parts of different manufacturers, and fasteners of yet a different manufacturer. These standards are related to the specifications of chucks and their corresponding tools.

ISO 10897:2016

Collets for tool holders with taper ratio 1:10 - Collets, holders, nuts

ISO 10897:2016 specifies the dimensions, materials and manufacturing requirements, and designation of collets for tools with cylindrical shanks and their corresponding holders and nuts. For non-standardized clamping devices, such as clamping devices specified in drawings, these holders can be agreed upon between customer and supplier. Form A applies where a clamping range of H10 is sufficient. Form B can be used for any application without lateral cutting load. Annex A specifies the values for AT3 tolerance and AT4 tolerance.

ISO 5414-1:2002

Tool chucks (end mill holders) with clamp screws for flatted cylindrical shank tools - Part 1: Dimensions of the driving system of tool shanks

ISO 5414-1 lays down the dimensions of tool chucks (end mill holders) with clamp screws designed for driving flatted cylindrical shanks in accordance with ISO 3338-2 and specifies the clamp screws used. It also gives the maximum diameter of the chuck nose. ISO 5414-1 defines two types of drive: chucks with bores equal to or less than 20 mm intended for driving cylindrical shank tools with a single flat, these tools being provided with either a single or a double cutting part; chucks with bores equal to or more than 25 mm intended for driving cylindrical shank tools with a double flat, these tools being provided with a single cutting part only.

ISO 5414-2:2002

Tool chucks (end mill holders) with clamp screws for flatted cylindrical shank tools - Part 2: Connecting dimensions of chucks and designation

ISO 5414-2 specifies the dimensions of tool chucks (end mill holders) with clamp screws for tools with flatted cylindrical shanks in accordance with ISO 3338-2. It also specifies the designations of these chucks. ISO 5414-2 defines two types of connection: chucks with 7/24 taper shanks in accordance with ISO 297 for manual changers and with ISO 7388-1 for automatic changers, for tool shanks with either single flat or a double flat for manual and automatic changers; chucks with Morse taper shanks in accordance with ISO 296 and ISO 5413 for tool shanks with a single flat only.
