Braking and Tires for Forestry Vehicles

Tractors and other machinery greatly facilitate the forestry industry. The brakes and tires help these tractors move more safely for logging as well as transport and have standards so that these processes are efficient and safer.

ISO 5697:1982

Agricultural and forestry vehicles -- Determination of braking performance

Specifies method of measuring the performance of service braken, based on measured deceleration and on measured stopping distance, and of parking brakes of vehicles. Applies to: tractors and self-propelled vehicles having a maximum design speed exceeding 6 km/h; trailed vehicles designated for use at speeds exceeding 6 km/h, comprising trailers, towed machines and implements. Annex A gives a specimen test report for tractors and self-propelled vehicles; annex gives a specimen test report for trailed vehicles.

ISO 11512:1995

Machinery for forestry - Tracked special machines - Performance criteria for brake systems

Specifies performance test methods and criteria to enable uniform assessment of the service, secondary and parking brake systems of tracked specially designed forestry machines. Applies to self-propelled tracked special forestry machines with a maximum design speed of 20 km/h or less.

ISO 11169:1993

Machinery for forestry - Wheeled special machines - Vocabulary, performance test methods and criteria for brake systems

Applies to self-propelled, rubber-tyred special forestry machines defined in ISO 6814. Specifies test methods and criteria to enable uniform assessment of the service, secondary and parking brake systems.

SAE J 1440-1993 (SAE J1440-1993)

Off-Road Tire and Rim Classification~Forestry Machines

This SAE Recommended Practice describes the classification of off-road tires and rims designed specifically for forestry machines (See sAE J1116), defines related terminology in common use, and shows representative construction details of component parts. To establish a standard nomenclature for tire classification lS (Log skidder) tire and rim components.

ISO 18807:2019

Tyres and rims for logging and forestry service

This document sets out the marking, the tyre size designation, the dimensions, the load ratings and the rim coordination for logging and forestry service tyres in diagonal and radial construction.

Rim dimensions are given in ISO 18804.

ISO 18804:2021

Rims for agricultural, forestry and construction machines

This document specifies rim dimensions for rims for agricultural, forestry, and construction machines.

ISO 7867-1:2018

Metric series for agricultural, forestry machines and construction tyres - Part 1: Tyre designation, dimensions and marking, and tyre/rim coordination

This document establishes the tyre size designation, the dimensional calculation formulae, the markings and the tyre and rim coordination for the metric series of tyres primarily intended for use on agricultural and forestry tractors, machines, equipment and trailers and for construction machines.

It applies to diagonal, bias-belted and radial tyres mounted on 5 and 15 tapered rims.

NOTE Code designated series of:

— diagonal (ply rating marked) tyres for agricultural tractors and machines are specified in ISO 4251-1 and ISO 4251-2;

— radial (service description marked) tyres for agricultural tractor-drive-wheel tyres are specified in ISO 8664;

— tyres for logging and forestry machines are specified in ISO 18807[1];

— tyres for construction/industrial tractors are specified in ISO 13442.

[1] Under preparation. Stage at the moment of publication ISO/DIS 18807:2018.

ISO 7867-2:2018

Metric series for agricultural, forestry machines and construction tyres - Part 2: Load ratings for agricultural tyres

This document establishes the service description, the tyre load ratings for basic and special applications and reference inflation pressure for the metric series of tyres primarily intended for agricultural tractors, machines, equipment and their trailers.

It applies to diagonal, bias belted and radial tyres mounted on 5 and 15 tapered rims.

NOTE The service description, the tyre load ratings for basic and special applications and reference inflation pressure for the metric series of:

— tyres for logging and forestry machines are specified in ISO 18807;

— tyres for construction/industrial tractors are specified in ISO 13442.
