Rubber

Rubber particle testing standards are published by ASTM. They cover standard test methods for determination of particle size of vulcanized rubber and sulfur rubber chemicals by dry sieving, in addition to the standard classification of vulcanized rubber materials. These documents are necessary if you or your organization works with rubber particles.

ASTM D5644-18

Standard Test Method for Rubber Compounding Materials—Determination of Particle Size Distribution of Recycled Vulcanizate Particulate Rubber

1.1 This test method describes the procedures for determining average particle size distribution of recycled vulcanizate particulate rubber by the Ro-tap sieve test method for 90 m (170 mesh) or larger particles. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

ASTM D4570-02(2017)

Standard Test Method for Rubber Chemicals—Determination of Particle Size of Sulfur by Sieving (Dry)

1.1 This test method covers the particle size measurement of the coarse fraction of ground sulfurs. It is limited to measurement of particles greater than 45 m (No. 325 sieve). If the sulfur is very fine and the screens become plugged by the caking of the sulfur, it may be necessary to use a wet sieve procedure instead. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

ASTM D5603-19a

Standard Classification for Rubber Compounding Materials—Recycled Vulcanizate Rubber

1.1 This classification covers the compounding material commercially known as recycled vulcanizate particulate rubber. Recycled vulcanizate particulate rubber is the product that results when vulcanizate rubber has been processed by some means to obtain a desired particle size distribution. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
