D-24: Guideline for Combining 3D Models & 2D CAD Documentation (Secured file - cannot be printed)

The automotive industry has increased the use of 3D CAD systems. The combined or assembled 3D models are commonly referred to as "digital mockups". Traditionally, 2D drawings have been the distribution medium used in manufacturing. Standards and practices are well defined in this domain. Although 3D models are becoming more widely accepted, there are no standards and thus create problems within the industry. The Digital Visualization Work Group of AIAG, in cooperation with SASIG-Strategic Automotive product Data Standards Industry Group, has via this document established standards for combining 3D models and 2D drawings.
