AIAG Traceability Guideline

Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) committees consist of volunteers from member companies in, or supporting, the automotive industry. The Traceability guideline is the result of collaboration between professionals from OEM(s), tiered suppliers, and service providers, all of whom provided valuable subject matter expertise. As the technology in and costs of vehicles increase the importance of traceability for automotive components, systems, and vehicles increases. Product recalls also have increased, both in number of recalls and in number of vehicles recalled, negatively affecting costs by recalling a large number of potentially affected vehicles. Accurate and detailed traceability allows organizations to refine product searches and pinpoint affected product, reducing the impact on both the customer and the organization.
