Management System for the Protection of Intellectual Property in the Supply Chain - Requirements

This standard is published by the Licensing Executives Society (USA and Canada), Inc. It is one of a series of LES standards being published in the field of intellectual property (IP) and intellectual capital (IC) management.   LES standards are voluntary consensus-based professional practices that are guided in their development by the “American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI’s) Essential Requirements.” (ANSI is the unique accrediting agency in the United States for voluntary consensus standards development organizations.)   The Management System for the Protection of Intellectual Property in the Supply Chain v1.0 was developed by a committee operating under the ANSI standard development rules and procedures. The draft standard was approved by the committee through a voting process and approved by the LES Standards Board to proceed to public comment.   This LES standard is a business process standard designed to encourage and guide consensus practices in many of the business process aspects of IP/IC management. This standard is not intended to limit innovative or alternative mechanisms or methods of protecting IP/IC. Nor is this standard intended to define the only reasonable steps for protecting IP/IC. Where appropriate, organizations may seek the opportunity to differentiate themselves based on their use of these consensus professional practices, through certification of conformance to this standard.
