ANSI/ASCE/T&DI 21.4 is Part 4 of the four-part Automated People Mover (APM) Standards, which establish the minimum set of requirements necessary to achieve an acceptable level of safety and performance for an Automated People Mover (APM) system. This standard covers a minimum set of equipments for maintaining automated people movers. Part 4 specifically provides information on Security; Emergency Preparedness; System Verification and Documentation; Operation, Maintenance, and Training; Operational Monitoring. It also includes three information annexes which offer to the user a series of options or instructions, but do not prescribe a specific course of action. These annexes are not a mandatory part of the Standard, and significant judgment is left to the user. This Standard will be valuable to transportation engineers, safety engineers, and contractors of APM systems. It will also be beneficial to anyone who owns, operates, maintains, designs, tests, insures, overseas, or certifies APMs or other innovative technology transit systems.
