This Standard covers various designs of standard taps, nomenclature and definitions; the standard system of marking; and dimensions and tolerance tables for the following types and styles of taps: Type: Standard straight thread, general purpose; Tables 2 and 2A. Style: Straight fluted, Spiral fluted, Spiral point, with Straight flutes, Spiral point only, no Straight flutes. Applicable Sections(s): 3.1, 3.4 and 3.5, 3.2, 3.3. Type: Pipe, taper thread; Table 7, Pipe, Straight fluted. Applicable Section(s) 3.8; Table 8, Pulley; Table 5, Screw thread insert; Table 2B, Thread forming: Tables 2 and 2A. Style: Straight fluted and Straight lobes. Applicable Sections(s): 3.7, 3.1 and 3.6.
