Standard Test Method for Sonic Velocity in Manufactured Carbon and Graphite Materials for Use in Obtaining an Approximate Young's Modulus

This test method describes a procedure for measuring the sonic velocity in manufactured carbon and graphite materials having a grain size less than 0.80 mm ( 1/32 in.). The sonic velocity can be used to obtain an approximate value for Young's modulus. 1.2 This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment.
