Safety in Welding and Cutting

1.1 This standard is for the protection of persons from injury and illness and the protection of property (including equipment) from damage by fire and other causes arising from welding and cutting.  1.2 Specific provisions are included for gas welding, shielded metal-arc welding, submerged arc welding, gas shielded-arc welding, brazing and resistance welding. However, the requirements of this standard are generally applicable to the other welding processes shown in the AWS Master Chart of Welding Processes, A3.1-61.  1.3 No attempt has been made to include all particular hazards which may be inherent when welding and cutting equipment is used in special industries.
