C22.2 NO. 0.5-1982 (R2012) - Threaded Conduit Entries


1. Scope

1.1 This Standard applies to equipment for installation and use in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, other than conduit couplings.

1.2 This Standard includes basic construction and inspection requirements for the threaded entry for conduit into an electrical enclosure in order to assure:

(a) The adequacy of a grounding path provided by rigid metal conduit in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I; and

(b) That threaded conduit entries are unlikely to cause damage to the insulation of conductors that are installed in a raceway of rigid metal conduit in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.

Note: In Clause 1.2 the word enclosure is used to include a variety of structures with an enclosing function, whether constituting part of a raceway or an enclosure (of a switch, for example).

1.3 This Standard does not include requirements for construction material, design proportions, protection against corrosion, and other matters that are more appropriately included in the scope of individual Standards applicable to specific equipment.
