This is the harmonized CSA Group and UL standard for Electric Motor-Operated Hand-Held Tools, Transportable Tools And Lawn And Garden Machinery - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements. It is the First edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 62841-1, and the First edition of UL 62841-1. This edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 62841-1 coexists with the Fourth edition of UL 60745-1 published on July 31, 2007. This edition of UL 62841-1 coexists with the Fourth edition of UL 60745-1 published on July 31, 2007. This harmonized standard is based on IEC Publication 62841-1: First edition Electric Motor-Operated Hand-Held Tools, Transportable Tools And Lawn And Garden Machinery - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements issued March 2014. IEC publication 62841-1 is copyrighted by the IEC. This harmonized standard was prepared by CSA Group and Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL). This International Standard deals with the safety of electric motor-operated or magnetically driven:- - HAND-HELD TOOLS (IEC 62841-2); - TRANSPORTABLE TOOLS (IEC 62841-3); - LAWN AND GARDEN MACHINERY (IEC 62841-4).
- - tools intended to be used in the presence of explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas); - tools used for preparing and processing food; - tools for medical purposes; NOTE 1 IEC 60601 series covers a variety of tools for medical purposes.
