CAN/CSA ISO/IEC 14882-2018

Programming languages - C++ (Adopted ISO/IEC 14882:2017, fifth edition, 2017-12)

CSA Preface Standards development within the Information Technology sector is harmonized with international standards development. Through the CSA Technical Committee on Information Technology (TCIT), Canadians serve as the SCC Mirror Committee (SMC) on ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 on Information Technology (ISO/IEC JTC1) for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), the ISO member body for Canada and sponsor of the Canadian National Committee of the IEC. Also, as a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Canada participates in the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (ITU-T). For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as "CAN/CSA-ISO/IEC 14882" throughout. This Standard supersedes CAN/CSA-ISO/IEC 14882:16 (adopted ISO/IEC 14882:2014). At the time of publication, ISO/IEC 14882:2017 is available from ISO and IEC in English only. CSA Group will publish the French version when it becomes available from ISO and IEC. Scope 1 This document specifies requirements for implementations of the C++ programming language. The first such requirement is that they implement the language, so this document also defines C++. Other requirements and relaxations of the first requirement appear at various places within this document. 2 C++ is a general purpose programming language based on the C programming language as described in ISO/IEC 9899:2011 Programming languages — C (hereinafter referred to as the C standard). In addition to the facilities provided by C, C++ provides additional data types, classes, templates, exceptions, namespaces, operator overloading, function name overloading, references, free store management operators, and additional library facilities.
