Drills for use prior to tapping screw threads


This standard specifies sizes for drills to be used prior to tapping cylindrical screw threads with standard length of engagement where the drill diameter is approximately equal to the nominal thread diameter minus the thread pitch. This standard does not apply to cold-forming tapping. Drill sizes are given for the following screw threads: - ISO metric screw threads (coarse and fine pitch); - EU metric screw threads (coarse and fine pitch); - ISO inch screw threads (UNC and UNF); - Pipe threads.
