General principles governing the gas chromatographic analysis of petroleum products and related liquids and solvents used in paints an varnishes
This standard establishes the basis for the gaschromatographic analysis of petroleum products, both for the quantitative determination of single substances and for their quantitative presence in a sample. The standard is also applicable to related products e.g. solvents in paint. The standard provides a general description of a gas chromatograph, describes the analysis and the interpretation of results. It also explains and defines basic parameters such as gaschromatography, gaschromatogram, zero-line, base-line, peak, peak height, peak width at half heigh, peak area, separation number, peak asymmetrie, retention time, relative retention and retention index.
