UIM - The unique identification mark - Application requirements for very small items using matrix symbols (Foreign Standard)

For the purpose of external and internal retraceability (production, stockkeeping, intake and placing of orders, shipment resp. returning) of products, each single product needs to be identifiable by a unique identification mark. This identification mark must be independent of the technology which is used (Barcode, 2D - Codes or RFID). The intended standard specifies a code which satifies these requirements and which at the same stage can be embedded into ISO/IEC 15418.
