Rolling bearings - Thermally safe operating speed - Calculation and correction values

In this document a calculation method is given with which the thermally safe operating speed of a rolling bearing can be determined for concrete operating conditions.*This standard has been prepared by Rolling Bearings and Plain Bearings Standards Committee, Working Committee NA 118-01-08 "Tragzahlen und Lebensdauer" ("Load ratings and life"). This standard specifies a calculation method for the determination of the thermally safe operating speed of a rolling bearing for specific operating conditions. The indicated calculation method is only applicable, when the heating of bearings is the decisive criterion for the thermally operating speed. If another limit criterion is available when in use, then this calculation method is not applicable. The thermally safe operating speed cannot be calculated for thrust roller bearings, as the heat balance is not the speed limit criterion for this type of bearing. The calculation method is applicable to rolling bearings without rubbing contact seals. For sealed rolling bearings the influence of the seals shall be taken into account.
