Camping tents (ISO 5912:2011); German version EN ISO 5912:2011

This International Standard specifies the requirements on safety, performance and fitness for use of camping tents.*This standard has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 83 "Sports and recreational equipment", in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 136 "Sports, playground and other recreational facilities and equipment", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. The standard specifies requirements for safety, performance and fitness for use of camping tents. It supersedes DIN EN ISO 5912:2005-09 and partially supersedes DIN ISO 10966:2005-11. The most significant modifications are as follows: a) the revised requirements for fabric for camping tents as specified in DIN ISO 10966:2005-11 have been incorporated; b) stability requirements have been deleted; c) three levels of performance for camping tents have been introduced; d)the consumer information regarding ventilation has been clarified; e) the test method for flame retardant fabric has been changed; f) the rain test has been brought in line with industry's best practice; g) requirements to address risks related to new styles of tents which include squeeze and shear points have been added; h) the size of sleeping areas has been modified. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 112-02-01 AA "Campingzelte" ("Camping tents") at DIN.
