This guide DS/INF 1140, Execution of load-bearing structures – General control, has been prepared by Danish Standard (DS) on instructions from the Housing and Planning Agency.**DS/INF 1140 provides guidance on how DS 1140:2019 Execution of load-bearing structures – General control, is used in practice. **The introduction of DS 1140:2019 Execution of load-bearing constructions – General control, hereinafter simply referred to as DS 1140 – will for parts of the construction industry be a significant change to the framework for execution of load-bearing constructions. In the past, there has been a tradition for the contractor to carry out self-inspection, and for the planners to carry out professional supervision of the execution if necessary. Some planners may have had requirements for the contractor's control in the form of tender control plans.**With the introduction of DS 1140, this has changed. The executors must now always carry out a general check. This applies to self-inspection and independent control, which they themselves organize and document to the planners and the building owner. The scope of the inspection is described in DS 1140. The building owner can decide that part or all of the independent general inspection is carried out by another party, e.g. the designer.*
