Information Systems – Fibre Distributed Data interface (FDDI) – Station Management (SMT) (formerly ANSI X3.229-1994 (R1999))
Specifies the Station Management (SMT) for the Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) and provides the SMT that is a subset of the Network Management necessary to allow stations on an FDDI ring to work cooperatively on the network. Primary responsibilities of the SMT will be connection management including station insertion, configuration management, fault isolation and recover including error detection and station isolation, configuration partitioning, communication protocol for external authority, scheduling policies, address administration, downline load and upline requirements.
