This joint standard is a specification that presents the basic need-to-know information for the application of quality thermal spray coatings for the corrosion protection of steel and iron. This standard covers the requirements, application procedures, safety, record keeping for quality control and assurance, documentation of application procedures, and evaluation of the coating. It also contains information for the application of sealers and topcoats for thermal spray coatings. There are several appendixes detailing further information, and tables and figures containing examples, requirements, and measurements. This standard is maintained by Task Group (TG) 146.
