NACE Standard TM0104-2004

Offshore Platform Ballast Water Tank Coating System Evaluation

This standard specifies a test method for evaluating ballast water tank coating systems on offshore platforms. It covers both new constructions and maintenance ballast water tank coating systems for tension leg platforms, semi-submersible platforms, and floating production and storage platforms. There are six methods detailed in this test method: cathodic disbondment, seawater immersion resistance, dimensional stability, aging stability, edge-retention, and thick-film cracking. Figures are provided showing examples of two of the test methods, as well as two tables containing information on test specimens and coating materials. This standard is maintained by Task Group (TG) 263.
