Evaluation of Pipeline and Pressure Vessel Steels for Resistance to Hydrogen-Induced Cracking

This revision to the standard incorporates the previously optional ‘HLP solution’ as Test Solution D, a strongly buffered solution for use in testing requiring greater pH stability than Test Solution C. For example, Test Solution D may be more appropriate for product verification testing conducted at reduced H2S partial pressures. In addition, the test specimen preparation requirements have been revised to permit the final finishing of all types of test specimens, both by grinding or by grit blasting to a uniform near-white metal appearance.
